ABOUT US

Hello and welcome to Farmyard Preschool based in Upper Hutt, Wellington!

We are really looking forward to the opportunity of supporting your child on their early education journey and getting to know you, your child and your Whanau.

We provide a safe, nurturing environment where tamariki independence is fostered. Tamariki will be supported to learn at their own pace so that they become confident and competent in their ability to learn. We believe in the importance of allowing tamariki to explore their world developing a sense of excitement and understanding of where and how they fit.

We are committed to Te tiriti o Waitangi and understand the importance of our role as kaiako to incorporate bi-cultural practice through the use of Te reo and Tikanga Māori throughout the centre.

Animals are an integral part of our centre. Through child / animal interactions we believe children will have the opportunity to develop empathy and responsibility to help support social development with peers. Children will also develop an understanding of sensitivity, sustainability and ways in which they can care for the world around them.

We believe in the importance of building strong reciprocal relationships with tamariki whānau, iwi and hapū to support their learning. We encourage and welcome their contributions and are committed to supporting whānau aspirations for their tamariki.

As teachers we believe early childhood education is paramount for laying a strong foundation to support a journey of lifelong learning. As professionals it is important for us to continue on our learning journey so we are able to deliver a high quality theory based experience for all ākonga.

Outdoor Playground

The outdoor playground is very spacious we are lucky to be able to offer the children grounds to run, play ball, enjoy group games etc. I have some ideas of equipment that I would like to add over time, and will keep you all informed as this happens. All of the climbing equipment will be moveable so that we can change its position and use from time to time.

Update on the goats

Still no goats, but I am in contact with my goat lady and she assures me they are not far away. We have been able to get some reels in the paddock so we can create a climbing frame for them.
